Key Aims of CYP

Arts Activities
To ensure that as many children and young people as possible have the opportunity to participate in arts programmes and activities with professional artists and arts organisations.

Arts infrastructure
To develop the arts infrastructure, both locally and regionally, to support the needs of children and young people, artists, arts organisations, teachers, youth leaders and community workers involved in the Arts.

Creative curricula and youth work practice
To develop the contribution of artists and arts organisations to supporting the Northern Ireland Schools’ and Youth Service curricula, and other models of youth work practice.

Intersectoral collaboration
To increase collaboration in the area of arts and creativity between government departments, public sector agencies, schools, colleges, community and voluntary groups, artists and arts organisations.

Perception and value of the arts
To enhance the perception and value of the arts and how they can contribute to improved learning, personal and social development and a higher quality of life for children and young people, teachers, youth leaders, community workers and the wider community.

To develop support for the further development of the Youth Arts sector through government and the community

The future of youth arts in Northern Ireland
To establish a framework for the future development of the Youth Arts sector and to build relationships and partnerships at local and regional level throughout the community which will embed and sustain the arts for children and young people.
