Education & Library Board Synopsis: An animation project took place in the Sacred Heart College, Omagh, involving all Year 10 pupils. The project entitled ‘Crash Bang Wallop’ formed part of an anti–bullying programme for the school. 180 pupils are benefiting from the workshops facilitated by Gary Rossborough and Thomas Mooney from The Nerve Centre. The project provided a great opportunity for the pupils to learn the skills involved in an artform that was new to them. The animated characters that were produced were of an extremely high quality and the participants thoroughly enjoyed the experience.” Siobhan Hurson, one of the Art Teachers at Sacred Heart College, said; “The two week animation course was a tremendous success. The pupils were engrossed throughout the whole project and got the opportunity to make their own model and edit it into a short animation”. Kieran Colton an A-Level art student, Sacred Heart College, said; “I have always been a fan of Nick Park’s work, and when the chance came along for me to do animation for my A-level I couldn’t turn it down. I loved every minute of the project, and now I fully understand how much work goes into the short stop-motion films. If it were possible for me to follow a career in this I would." |
