Education & Library Board Synopsis: The new St. Fanchea’s College building, located at Chanterhill Enniskillen was officially opened in June 2006. To mark this major event, the school wanted to create a major piece of sculpture which would be on permanent display at the entrance to the school and which would reflect the school ethos . The project in St’Fancheas was a 14 week project which started in September 2005 and was completed in Summer 2006. St Fanchea’s used their school motto, “We Believe, We Strive, We Achieve”, as the title. The project provided opportunities to strengthen the school’s existing links and forge new relationships with partners in the community. St Fanchea’s further developed links with their sister school in Nigeria. and through their link with the Sri Lankan school “Visahka Vidyalaya” Throughout the project, Genevieve Murphy and Jon Kelly worked with the pupils to create a sculpture for the grounds of the new school. Every pupil was given the opportunity to contribute their ideas to the final design. The sculpture was unveiled at the official opening which took place on Friday 23 June 2006 |
