Participants: 12 young people 11-12 yrs

Synopsis: This 100% funded project acted as an initial introduction for young people in the Kildress area, Cookstown, to working alongside an artist. Through discussion with the young people, visual installation artist Kathryn Nelson explored ‘rites of passage', in particular, participants' transition from primary education to post-primary. Using objects significant to the young people, the workshops explored the young peoples' hopes and fears for the future and changes in their lives in relation to present and past. The work produced was exhibited in the Burnavon Arts and Cultural Centre, Cookstown.
