Synopsis: A visual art and digital media project linking students from across the Newry & Kilkeel Institute of Further & Higher Education. This visual art and digital media project brought together a variety of young people from across the Newry Institute campuses including students of building, engineering, media studies, fine art and modern languages. Working with artist Raymond Henshaw, the students created artworks exploring their local environment and illustrating issues relevant to them.
The resulting artwork will be displayed (February 2006) on a 5 metre x 1.5 metre light box on the central raised stage of the current dining area of Newry Institute west campus. This light box will also house in its centre a plasma television that will be linked through a computer to a live web cam, a data feed and DVD player. This is to provide the dissemination of artistic films, DVD’s, live action, and act as an information point for students. Students have also made a series of accompanying Lambda digital prints to be positioned on adjacent walls. The first cross-disciplined artistic project undertaken on site.
