Synopsis: Four primary schools came together on a parent and child visual arts project with 3 different artists. The artists worked with the P1 classes in each of the schools for 6 sessions spread over the 2 months, introducing them to different media and techniques. In the planning parents were invited to attend with the teachers and the artists so they coud be fully involved and could then support their children I the home environment. It was an opportunity for the children to explore, experiment and create within the visual arts with their parent(s) working alongside them. The schools involved are the first cohort of primaries taking on the Enriched Curriculum in the NEELB area and was also a valuable for all teachers and classroom assistances to pick up new skills and approaches to the visual arts. The project was supported by the Early Years CASS team in Antrim.
