SYNOPSIS

ISH is a professional dance company based in Amsterdam . The company, directed by Marco Gerris , create theatrical spectacles by combining urban cultural dance forms with sports like skating and martial arts.

Apart from producing professional theatre performances, ISH has also developed its own in-house education course, The ISH Institute. In this, young people work alongside ISH performers for a 2-year period, in all the disciplines ISH use in their performances. The group of students at the ISH Institute, called Junior ISH eventually create their own performance and are given the opportunity to become part of the fully professional ISH cast.

In August 2007, Creative Youth Partnerships invited Junior ISH to work with young people from across Northern Ireland in an intensive week-long urban arts project. Disciplines included street dance, spray art, break dance, rap and beat box, basketball, skateboarding, parkour and Djing skills. The project cumulated in the TranZ4M Street Art Performance in the Waterfront Hall on Saturday 11 th August 2007, as part of the annual Belfast Urban Arts Festival. CYP are currently seeking funding to bring our young performers to Amsterdam .
