SYNOPSIS: The young people began by working with Belfast Exposed taking photographs in the Drawing room and Thompson’s dock in the Titanic Quarter. They collected and took moulds of found objects. The group then worked with artist John Johnston to design and produce a bronze low relief sculpture based on their site visit and inspired by interviews with an ex shipyard worker Raymond Livingstone. Matt Curry from Bluebird Media documented the whole process and this film includes the ex ship yard worker’s story set to a backdrop of images from the yard, the young artists developing the piece and an insight into how the piece was produced in the foundry. The project culminated with Nigel Williams, The Commissioner for Children and Young People unveiled the sculpture which was accompanied by a photographic exhibition and the film premiere.
