SYNOPSIS: The young people are taken on a ‘virtual’ journey around the world, exploring different cultures through music, movement and visual arts. World Music Airlines found crew members (participants) to join them on a musical journey around the world – without leaving the comfort of Belfast! We Fastened our seatbelts for this world wind tour which stopped off with drumming and songs from Africa, the Gamelan, from Indonesia, the Samba from South America and the Haka from New Zealand. Participants from both schools were given the opportunity to relive the memories of their travels in music with a showcase group performance incorporating song, instrument playing, dance and costume and family and friends welcomed the crew back from in style. The project’s showcase was a spirited, energetic, rousing mix of drumming, singing, dance and carnival with wonderfully colourful backdrops and a multi media trip through the whole adventure.
